JOHN PAUL GRANILLO
My works focus on my culture, perspectives, and values. This relationship with art and my core self has shaped, molded, and defined myself as an individual. I am an active member of the Santa Fe community helping others like myself regain the positive values of Chicano heritage. As a multimedia artist, I can create in various medium from stone, wood, oil paint, acrylic, ink, graphite, airbrush, and aerosol; from tabletop sculptures to monumental 50-foot murals. Each step of my journey has left a lasting impression on my world views and style. Dedication to my intimate relationship with art has led me back to explore the oldest mediums of man, stone and wood. I am currently focusing on various abstract pieces in wood, stone and oil paint. I work towards bypassing conventional thinking and focus on creating spiritual and organic works which are not just aesthetically beautiful but echos of a relationships of energy. I seek to provide others the opportunity to connect with me on a deeper level of consciousness - spiritually, emotional response, and culturally - so we may glimpse the world through a singular set of eyes.
My passion continues to be working with my community. I am a member of the Alas De Agua (Wings of water) collective. Our focus is healing our community through various forms of art such as murals, poetry, performance art and informational classes. We have created numerous murals through out the city with the youth of Santa Fe and surrounding areas. Website |
